St Mary’s Church is delighted to announce an exhibition of cartoons by Bosdet in the church from Tuesday 14th to Sunday 19th May 2024 between 10am and 4pm, in conjunction with the Glass Rainbow Trust and Jersey Heritage.
There will be a short introduction/service on Monday 13 May at 6pm to launch the week.
Henry Thomas Bosdet was born in Jersey in 1856, training in London at the Royal Academy of Arts where he met John Millais. (who had also spent his youth in Jersey), going on to teach art together. Bosdet’s detailed colourful glasswork was heavily influenced by the pre-Raphaelite movement.
His largest commission can be seen in the west window of Hexham Abbey.
