The Royal Visit

Last Monday the King and Queen came to Jersey. A small group of Parishioners were invited to attend a tea party in his honour at Liberation Square.

Due to the poor weather forecast, sadly the tea party had to be cancelled, but the group, along with the other 11 Parishes, had access to a ‘front row’ position outside the Pomme d’Or Hotel.

Dressed up for the occasion, all stood outside to await a glimpse. Then the downpour! A twister of hail, thunder, lightning and a good dose of heavy rain did not dampen spirits, the parade continued and the rain cleared. Just after 4pm their Majesties came out and greeted everyone in a short walkabout around the square.

One lucky Parishioner, Alice Huelin, was able to shake hands with both.
