Mustard Seed shoebox appeal

The Jersey mustard seed appeal is now open and ready to receive Christmas shoeboxes.  St Mary’s Parish Hall is delighted to offer it’s reception as a collection point again this year, though do let us know if your shoebox is for Mustard Seed appeal or Rotary de la Manche as we will be collecting for both.

This year the gifts will be sent to both Romania and the Ukraine. Cut off date for specific country is Friday 11th October 2024.  After that, any boxes received will be sent based on needs and numbers to one or other country.

General closing date to receive shoeboxes is Tuesday October 29th 2024.

All items need to be as good as new, preferably new! Each child’s box should be suitable for both genders. All items of clothing should be appropriate size for age group. For everyone the suggested clothing would be socks, hat, gloves, scarf.

Please note that only the poorest and neediest receive a shoebox, often they genuinely face the risk of death by starvation or freezing.  Monetary donations are welcome, which are used to purchase food and fuel in the country as part of the Bread & Food & Winter Fuel Appeals.

Last year, the Mustard Seed Jersey group sent 3647 Christmas shoeboxes from Jersey to Romania & Ukraine, including Ukrainian refugees in Romania
