New One Way system affecting Rue a Georges, St Mary
Please note that, for a six month trial period, there is no access into Rue a Georges from La Cheve Rue, i.e., it is one way in a westerly direction from its junction with Ruette es Boeufs / Rue es Boeufs.
Those wishing to access properties on Rue es Boeufs (and its continuation as La Verte Rue) should enter Rue es Boeufs from the road known as Ruette es Boeufs which leads northwards from La Rue Bechervaise near St Matthew’s Catholic Church.
Whilst appreciating that this change might cause some inconvenience to residents, it is hoped this will result in a reduction in traffic within the area in that drivers who have previously used Rue a Georges as a short cut to Six Roads will instead choose to get there via States main roads. A width restriction on Rue es Boeufs will effectively compel heavy vehicles to do so.
As a separate matter, the Parish of St Mary has applied for ‘green lane’ status for Rue a Georges, Rue es Boeufs and La Cheve Rue in the hope that, if approved, this will lead to increased safety for local residents, pedestrians and other road users.
