New sport pilot fund created by legacy money from Valerie Guy
A new pilot fund ‘Supportin Sport’ has been created by Jersey Sport, thanks to legacy money left to the organisation in the will of Valerie Guy. Valerie was a leading light in dance, teaching many islanders throughout her long career.
£100,000 will be invested directly back into local sport and will help support the island’s sports organisations to build safe and sustainable sporting offers which will enable more people to get involved.
Open for applications from 1-31 May 2024, it aims to support Jersey based sports organisations by activating plans, aligning resources, implementing change and signalling direction to continue to inspire an active population. This new fund has absorbed Jersey Sport’s Volunteer Workforce Grant, allowing sport organisations to apply for financial assistance towards costs associated with workforce training, qualifications and upskilling through one central fund.
To celebrate the launch of SUPPORTIN SPORT, Jersey Sport are hosting an informal networking event on Wednesday 1 May 2024, from 18.00 – 19.30 at Highlands College.
Sports organisations can attend and chat to the team about their ideas before submitting applications and there will also be drop-in support sessions to answer questions about the fund
