Storm Darragh advice
Along with Jersey Met and other partners, Jersey’s Emergency Planning team is monitoring the approach of Storm Darragh, which is expected to bring winds gusting up to 75mph to Jersey this weekend.
The Severe Weather Tactical Co-ordination Group (SW TCG) met this morning to assess the situation regarding the severe gale force winds forecast.
Jersey Met has forecast that winds will notably increase on Friday evening and through Saturday, most likely being at their strongest during Saturday afternoon. It is expected that there will be an increased risk of falling trees and debris on the roads.
As such, Islanders are urged to only travel if necessary.
The public are asked to keep away from coastal areas to avoid risk of harm and not to put themselves in any unnecessary danger.
With regard to personal property, please ensure it is either brought inside or tied down and secured.
To report routes blocked by fallen trees, please contact Infrastructure and Environment Operations and Transport on 445509 for main routes, and the duty Centenier for Parish roads.
