2023 Rate Assessment

The Rates List of the above Parish may be inspected at the Parish Hall during the usual opening hours from Thursday 30^th March 2023 to Sunday 30^th April 2023 inclusive. It is also available on the Parish website at www.stmary.je

The Assessors will be in attendance at the Parish Hall on the following dates to answer any queries relating to the assessments:

Monday 24^th April 2023 – 2pm to 4pm

Tuesday 25^th April 2023 – 6pm to 8pm

A formal application may be made to the Assessment Committee for a review of the rateable value of any land shown on the Rates List.

An application for a Review:

• Must be submitted on the approved form available from the Parish Hall or online – https://stmary.je/about-rates/
• If requesting a Review of the Rateable Value must provide details of other land in the Island with similar attributes where there is a significant difference (10% of the Rateable Value of the land in question or 500 rateable quarters whichever is the greater), and
• If requesting a Review of the assessment of Domestic/Non-domestic rates must provide details of the current use of the property, and
• Must be made on or before Tuesday 30^th April 2023 to the Assessment Committee at the Parish Hall.

An appeal against a draft assessment may only be made after a Review has been undertaken.

Notice is also given that in accordance with Article 11(4) of the Rates (Jersey) Law 2005 that once the Rates List has been approved by the Supervisory Committee it becomes the Rates List of the Parish for that rateable year.
